I have been trying to buy some Nama Shoyu but I can't find it.

Asked at Macro's and they had to google it, as they had never heard of it. They sell Shoyu but not Nama Shoyu.

They won't get any in for me, as I am the only person who has ever asked for it.

Where can I buy a bottle of (Organic) Nama Shoyu in Sydney?

OR

Can you provide a website / internet shopping link?

Many thanks

durianrider here..

braggs DEFINITELY aint raw..lol!

they use hardcore acids to disolve the sprayed soy beans and they keep the whole process under wraps..
do a google on it..

its not the poison sprayed soybeans that are so toxic..rather the chemicals used in the processing....

they changed their labeling after doug graham caught them out...

so yeah, not the most ethical company out there..and certainly not a 'health food'.

i was a braggs and nama shoyu and salt abuser. then i got in touch for my bodies desire for real salts. the organic salts found in plant foods. i started eating massive amounts of greens and tomatoes. i can honestly say i dont eat salt anymore.

this year ive really seen the destructive power of salt amongst people im with, i see kids getting addicted and off greens. it keeps people off eating sufficent greens, cos greens start to taste bland and the salt fix gets satisfied with the salted foods...just like people cant appreciate quality fruit till they ditch refined sugars...same with salt and greens.

i used to think i needed condiments to eat my greens..to make em taste good. it was just a belief. when i cut salts etc out, my body was attracted to greens like a madman. now im eating up to 1kg of greens on their own! big bowls of rocket, celery, lettuce, sweet leaf, baby spinach and other tender easy to digest greens. eating like a horse. a chronic craving for salt is a chronic mineral deficiency..just like the animals in nature that have their ablity to migrate or natural food taken away..farmers and hunters use salt licks to attract them and keep them there..
best we listen to our bodies desire for salt..its a desire for greens.

now when i go to the movies i have a bag of greens to eat. they are like the saltiest crips around..yet give us hydration and alkaline instead of dehydration and acidity..

i wish i knew earlier that my bodies desire for salt was just a cry for greens..
we live in a society that salts everything..this keeps people off eating sufficient greens and keeps babies getting vitamin k and folate injections..

japan has the highest rate of stomach cancer..they are a salted nation.

salt is another 'white powder of society'..carefully observe the behaviour of those around that are salt addicts..watch their inability to be able to chow down a bag of greens and REALLY enjoy it..

i only know a few people that can eat greens hardcore. they are all off salt and seaweeds.

if seen kids behaviour dramatically improve and same with athletes performances..

the samurai's used to commit suicide by eating salt. same with the chinese. people die of dehydration stranded in the ocean! they are floating on water but die from dehydration! that gives us a clue of the dangers of salt consumption..

If Braggs isnt raw why does Alissa Cohen use it then. And why does it say on the bottle 'It is not femented'.

Maybe you need to double check your facts Harley

i know a lot of raw chefs in a lot of raw resturants.  when it comes to condiments the 'is it raw?' doesnt seem to be an issue as it makes up such a small % of the food creation.

just like i used to eat spices that were questionable. many chefs dont see an issue in using braggs, seaseme oil, vanilla flavouring.

alissa understands that most of her readers have families that are salt addicts. braggs etc helps get people to eat raw food creations. cos i dont know any of my cooked mates that could eat salt free corn chips, meat pies, hotdogs, pizzas, burgers, tempeh etc without added salt...

yet today allissa recomends nama over braggs. she only sells nama. no braggs in her store...that speaks volumes.

just like nama aint raw..its cooked then fermented to create a 'live' product. it comes up to the individual what they seem fit for consumption. as always im just telling my experiences with em.

sometimes authors change their tune..but unfortunately books dont get updated till new editions..so its easy to get confused..

check out allissa's forum and do a search on braggs...youll see what i mean.

Really Suay so why on earth would Alissa use it all the time, that is the only reason why I brought it. Oh well

It even says not heated very confused.

There is still so much to learn about cooked food isnt there.

Braggs is still better then most soya sauces right?

im not sure why she uses it PT....perhaps to suit those who are just starting out with raw...or arent hard core raw vegans-like some of us...do what works for you sweet...

i would say it is definitely better than most reg soy sauces...hey if you feel okay having it,have it! there isnt a law against it yet...hee hee....(joke Joyce!)

i use to have a little salad with my braggs, when i started out raw rolleyes.....until it started giving me acid belly...

Alissa used Braggs, and had no idea it wasn't raw. The creator marketed it as a raw product and it was highly used in raw food recipe books everywhere. Since then the opinions have changed, and Braggs is out of favour in the raw world. Nama Shoyu is more common now (nama means raw). We've occasionally had it in the RP shop, however not at this time. It's not used by many and has never sold in great quantities.

Jameth Sheridan (the creator of Vitamineral Green) actually recommends wheat free tamari over nama shoyu, because he says that the wheat in Nama Shoyu is a western invention, and not a healthy addition to the mix. However in any case it's a small portion of a meal when any of these are used. Many still us Braggs too.

If you want you can substite a small amount of salt and water or leave out entirely and simply add sea salt to your meal if you feel it's needed. In most cases it's not really a fundamental taste, and simply used as a salty addition to a recipe. There are some recipes that call for 1 cup of nama shoyu, and in those cases you really just need to skip the recipe if you don't have the ingredient.

Thanks Sheryl for clearing that up I really appreciate it.

So maybe buy the wheat free Tamari hay!!!!! I actually really like the light tast of the Braggs its not a strong flavour like the other soya sauce (including tamari) that I have used.

Thanks again Sheryl so glad you are around the forum every now and again

Love toyou Angie

Thanks for your replies.

I actually hate pure salt and have never used it intentionally in/on food (yes I know, lots of supermarkets foods have hidden salts)

However, I do like wheat free tamari, especially for adding to salad dressings and such like.
